Finnair Reports 3.8% Rise in January Passenger Traffic

The airline’s January performance showed a 3.8% increase in passenger volume compared to the same period last year. While the 912,300 passengers recorded in January fell short of the 982,800 seen in December, the carrier maintained a positive trajectory in its core international markets.

Route Performance and Cargo Growth

Geographically, the expansion was led by significant gains in North Atlantic traffic, alongside clear growth in Finnair’s Asian and European networks. Domestic travel saw a marginal uptick, though the airline reported a decline in Middle Eastern traffic during the month, according to the company's latest traffic figures.

Operational metrics also trended upward, with overall capacity increasing by 3.8% year-on-year. This was outpaced by a 4.6% rise in traffic, indicating improved efficiency in seat utilization. Additionally, the carrier's logistics arm saw a 7.5% increase in total cargo weight compared to January of the previous year.
