Aimia to Divest Giovanni Bozzetto Stake in C$271 Million Deal
Aimia, the Toronto-based investment holding company, has reached an agreement to sell its interest in specialty chemicals firm Giovanni Bozzetto to One Equity Partners. The deal, valued at up to C$271 million ($198.1 million), marks a significant milestone in the firm's broader strategy to refocus its portfolio and unlock shareholder value.
The divestment aligns with a three-step value-creation plan Aimia initiated in March 2023. According to the company, the sale is expected to generate gross proceeds between C$265 million and C$271 million. These funds are earmarked for fresh capital deployment as Aimia seeks out new investment opportunities in line with its revised corporate mandate.
Strategic Capital Reallocation
The transaction underscores Aimia's transition from its historical roots in loyalty programs toward a diversified investment holding model. By offloading the specialty chemicals business, the firm gains significant liquidity to pursue higher-growth assets.
Management expects the deal to close within the next three months, pending customary closing conditions. This exit follows a period of active portfolio management as the firm continues to streamline its holdings to improve overall returns.
