Nebius Acquires Tavily to Power Autonomous AI Agents

Amsterdam-based AI cloud provider Nebius announced on Tuesday its acquisition of Tavily, a specialized search engine built for artificial intelligence agents. The deal aims to integrate Tavily’s real-time web navigation and fact-verification capabilities into the Nebius platform, enabling developers to build and deploy sophisticated autonomous systems.

The acquisition positions Nebius as a central hub for the burgeoning "agentic" AI market by providing the underlying architecture necessary for software to browse the internet and perform complex real-world tasks. The Tavily team, led by Chief Executive Rotem Weiss, will join Nebius to continue product development while maintaining the existing Tavily brand as it scales.

Strengthening the Enterprise AI Stack

This move is a core component of Nebius's strategy to offer a full-stack platform for vertical AI companies. By integrating Tavily’s search technology, Nebius addresses a critical bottleneck in AI development: the need for reliable, real-time data retrieval. According to the company, the acquisition bolsters an already established client base, as Tavily currently serves industry heavyweights including IBM, Cohere, and Groq.

Nebius did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction. However, the company emphasized that the merger will streamline the process for developers to assemble and operate enterprise-grade agentic systems. This integrated software stack is designed to reduce friction for firms looking to move beyond simple chatbots toward more functional, autonomous digital workers.
