Chorus Aviation Expands Medical Reach With C$40 Million SkyCare Deal

Chorus Aviation is set to acquire SkyCare Air Ambulance, the leading private fixed-wing operator in Northern Ontario, in a deal valued at C$40 million. The move signals a strategic pivot for the Canadian holding company as it targets growth across its specialized aerospace and defense platforms.

The transaction, expected to close in the fourth quarter, brings 22 aircraft and a workforce of 220 employees under the Chorus umbrella. SkyCare currently manages critical medical evacuations, organ transport, and charter services throughout Canada and the United States, providing a robust operational footprint that aligns with Chorus’s long-term expansion goals.

Chief Executive Colin Copp noted that the acquisition complements the firm's broader ambitions in the aerospace sector. Financing for the deal involves an initial C$32 million cash payment, with the remaining balance due by March 31, 2029, contingent upon SkyCare hitting specific performance milestones. Looking toward the end of the decade, Chorus anticipates generating up to C$550 million in free cash flow and aircraft sales proceeds between 2026 and 2029.
