Smith & Wesson Expands Rifle Portfolio with $160 Million Savage Arms Buy

Savage Arms, a staple of the firearms industry since 1894, brings a robust lineup of hunting and competition rifles to the partnership. The company reported roughly $160 million in net sales for the twelve months ending in September. Smith & Wesson leadership noted that the acquisition fills critical gaps in their current portfolio, specifically by pairing their handgun expertise with Savage’s established bolt-action and rimfire offerings.

Financial projections suggest the merger will yield $18 million in incremental earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. Shareholders can expect immediate returns, with the transaction estimated to be accretive by 4 cents per share for the remainder of fiscal 2027. Once operational synergies are fully integrated, management anticipates that figure will climb to 10 cents per share annually. Following the transaction, JDH Capital holds a 16.7% stake in Smith & Wesson, securing its influence over the expanded entity’s long-term strategy.
