AbbVie to Build $380 Million AI-Driven Drug Plants in Illinois

The new plants will focus on producing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) using a combination of artificial intelligence and high-tech manufacturing processes. According to the company, the facilities are expected to be fully operational by 2029 and will create approximately 300 new jobs in the Illinois region.

Under the terms of the deal, the drugmaker pledged to spend $100 billion on domestic R&D and capital projects over the next decade.
