The ICC's Pre-Trial Chamber I unanimously rejected challenges from Israel regarding the warrant applications submitted in May by chief prosecutor Karim Khan. The judges alleged that Netanyahu and Gallant intentionally deprived Gaza’s civilian population of essential survival items, including food, water, medicine, and fuel, while directing attacks against civilians without clear military justification. The death toll in the Gaza Strip has now surpassed 44,000 as these legal proceedings unfold.

ICC Issues Arrest Warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, and Hamas Leader
The International Criminal Court on Thursday formally issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leader Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, citing reasonable grounds to believe the three men bear criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed since October 2023.

A separate warrant for Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri details allegations of murder, extermination, torture, rape, and hostage-taking. Neither the United States nor Israel recognizes the court's jurisdiction, setting the stage for significant diplomatic friction. While the U.S. House previously passed legislation to impose sanctions on the ICC, some international figures, including U.K. Member of Parliament Jeremy Corbyn, have pushed for governments to honor their obligations and enforce the warrants.
